O VILAR is located on the side of the Mera de Arriba Valley, in the most inland part of the Ortigueira estuary, 3 km from the mouth of the Mera River. This river forms the Ortigueira estuary, situated in the northeast of Galicia, between Cape Ortegal and Estaca de Bares.
